Blast from the Past.....

Loving this old school 1962
Disneyland Fashion shoot, Magazine Spread.
Classic.

That Gals Got Some Wicked STYLE.....

With her doll like features, porcelain skin,
and wild untamed hair.
Helena Bonham Carter has a quirky style
that she owns and rocks.
Most times being slammed by magazines, blogs and fashion critics.
Helena gets the last laugh, unfazed she sticks to her style,
rocks the red carpet with mis match shoes,
High Fashion pieces from one of my favorite designers and many others
Vivienne Westwood.
Making the worst dress many times Helena herself was shocked that she
made the Vanity Fair 2010 best dressed list, thinking it was a joke.
Finally someone thought outside the box and appreciated her style.
I personally think Fashion, Home decor and everyday Style should reflect you.
That's why I think someone like Helena is a fashion role model.
Her style may not be others required taste, but that my friends is the best thing
it's her's and she OWNS it!
Following making the best dress list 2010
Helena Bonham Carter became the face of Marc Jacobs 2011
Autumn/Winter campaign.
Helena has said that one of her Fashion inspirations is
Marie Antoinette.
Which isn't surprising, Marie Antoinette is famous throughout
the world for her style and independent spirit,
Just like Helena Bonham Carter.

Helena has graced every magazine cover you can think of
from High Fashion to a sexy cover and photo shoot for Maxim Magazine.
Proving she's not only a chameleon in her films but also in fashion.
Helena Bonham Carter really is a Fashion Icon
role model and inspiration.
So next time your having a fashion dilemma maybe think outside the box
grab yourself a quirky headpiece or mismatch your shoes....

Magic A Class Act.

We just watched a documentary on Magic Johnson,
ESPN The Announcement.
Wow what a guy I had no idea what a charming, warm, kind, strong man he is.
Magic Johnson is so much more than a basketball player even though he's
one of the all time greats and Captain of the original Dream Team.
An Aids advocate and survivor.
Business genius, entrepreneur, role model, philanthropist,
Broadcaster, motivational speaker and creator of the Magic Johnson Foundation.
Magic Johnson has really done so much as a person,
Not just from his achievements but for what he has brought to other peoples lives,
He has helped the world, people, children, family's and
has brought all races, groups and community's together as one.
Bringing awareness that the aids virus affects all genres no matter what a
personal relationship preference is.
I really don't know how the world would be today if Magic Johnson,
didn't announce to the world that he had contracted the Aids virus,
The world saw and lived through Magic Johnson that it's ok to touch me, I'm still me,
I'm alive I'm here and I'm going to live my life.....
Magical!!!

Tim Burton everybody's Best friend.....

I'm beyond excited for Burton and Disney's new film
Frankenweenie.....

Tim Burton's has shown us an amazing love, understanding and respect for our
four legged best friends.
In previous blogs I've discuss the relationship
Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Studios have with dogs.

Tim Burton himself has had a long history working for the Walt Disney Company,
Attending Cal Arts with other Disney and Pixar legends such as
John Lasseter, Brad Bird and Rick Heinrichs.
While working for The Walt Disney Company in the 1980s,
Tim Burton created the concept of Frankenweenie which Disney approved to
be worked as a short film.
Tim himself always thought that the short film could of been stretch to a full length feature,
now here in 2012 Tim Burton's wish has been granted with the release of
Frankenweenie.
Which has been reworked and inspired from the orginal short film.

Frankenweenie tells the story of
Victor Frankenstein and his dog Sparky.
It's really a story of love and friendship between a boy and his dog.
The film has been shot in black, white and stop motion.
Tim burton has said that stop motion and black and white mediums,
bring emotional qualities to the film.
Tim Burton has expressed and describe the importance of owning a dog,
owning several as a child.....

" I think for most kids that's kind of your first relationship,
and it's usually the best, it's the purest in a way.
With dogs, it's pure love and pure emotion"
- Tim Burton
( from the book Burton on Burton)

Tim Burton expresses this belief, love and emotion through many of his classic
films that feature a dog or dog like character.

In the stop motion short Vincent,
His pet dog Ambercrombie, puts up with Vincent's wild imagination
and even agrees to Vincent experimenting on him,
who wants to turn him into a zombie dog....

There is a recurring theme in some of Tim Burton's film
mostly the stop motion, family movies.
That the dog characters are deceased this can be extremely upsetting,
but Tim brings them to life in such a beautiful way that he gives them new life.

In The Nightmare before Christmas.....
Jack Skellington's ghost dog Zero
( who is one of the most popular dogs in film of all time)
Brings so much love, loyalty and responsibility to the confused but lovable Jack,
just by being his loyal companion

The Corpse Bride.....
Has a similar tone, but when Victor is pulled into another land,
Scraps the skeleton dog brings Victor a sense of comfort and support
in his time of need by being reunited with his old best friend.
All of these emotions and feelings expressed between these characters and there pet dogs,
really does go back to the core of what Tim Burton has expressed about the importance
of the human and dog relationship.

There are so many other amazing dogs,
Tim Burton has brought us from the TV episode Family Dog,
The chihuahua from Mars Attacks, Bayard the Bloodhound from Alice in Wonderland,
The outrageous grooming scene from Edward Scissorhands
and who can forget Peewee Herman's Dog Speck.

Another amazing element that Tim Burton brought to us regarding dogs is
in the beautiful film Edward Scissorhands.
A scene in the film the towns people go crazy and turn on the scared Edward.
In his time of confusing and isolation a dog appears and shows
Edward he still believes in him.
I really think Tim Burton added this to the film to express that dogs really do
Love us unconditional.

With Walt Disney it all started with a mouse,
With Tim Burton it started with horror movies, monsters and Frankenstein
But just maybe deep down somewhere it also started with a dog......

Inspiration!!

The man with the BIG fluffy red heart.....

I just have to share one of the most inspiring,
Heart felt, gorgeous, sweetness documentaries I have ever seen.
I feel so lucky and grateful that I was able to see, experience and share this film.
It's a film for all ages young and old,
If you have ever had a dream, been inspired or have had a wish in your heart
this is the film for you.

I cannot believe how moving this film is,
I've been longing to see it and it really is the Documentary or the decade.
I smiled, laugh and cried more times than I even know,
It is the story of Kevin Clash the puppeteer who is most famous for
" Being Elmo"

This man is beyond amazing a dream and talent he had and followed from young.
A supportive family, dedication, will power, faith and a lot of hard work,
Kevin Clash is the essence of happiness and success.

There are so many special moments in this film,
from the young Kevin with a dream, to meeting Kevin Love
to eventually working with the dream maker himself Jim Henson.

The way he has given Elmo life, the work he has done for the children of the world,
especially the sick and the joy he has brought to many,
Including the full circle moment in the film where he meets and mentors a young girl,
with the same creative nature and talented they both shared at a young age.
Makes this movie a must see for everyone.

Really is there anyone else that's more kinder or sweeter then Elmo?
The answer is yes Kevin!!
This man has the most amazing heart and zest for life,
such a wonderful role model and talent that makes the word a happier place.
" I new Elmo should represent Love "
- Kevin Clash

Out of the shadows.....

This weekend I went to see Tim Burton's new film Dark Shadows.
( based on a 1960s/70s tv show with the same name)
It's Amazing really how Tim Burton has been an inspiration to me, many others,
actors, actresses and the movie industry, over the last 30years.

Tim Burton has been an inspiration to me from a very young age,
Being a 7 year old and watching Peewee's Big Adventure was every kids dream,
Magic shops, Dinosaurs, a cool bike and not to mention
Peewees rainbow gadget house!
We all wanted a house like that.....

My interest in Tim Burton's movies grew stronger as a teenager,
I still remember when The Nightmare Before Christmas was released on V.H.S.
( We didn't have a cinema in the small town I grew up in.)
So I begged my mum to let me hire it when it was released,
and it was like nothing I had seen before.
I feel in love with the technique of stop motion and the gorgeous characters from the film.

My respect and admiration for his films, works, characters, vision and art
only continues to grow.....
Tim's approach and ideas to take things out of the box and to turn them
into the most creative medium he can think of has really
encourage many people to be one thing.....
Themselves.
